Served in a mug, the appearance was a stuffy black color rimmed with a finger’s worth of white foamy head. Some stringy lace. The aroma speaks of some roasted coffee beans, some milk chocolate and then just a touch of maple. I had to really let this one warm up, but eventually the raisin comes out, took a while but I got it. The flavor yields to the sweetness of the blend of the previously mentioned aromas. I would say this blended fairly nice. The aftertaste is what was superb - when maple blends with raisin and porter qualities, well damn, man, that’s something real special! Nicely blended finish as well. On the palate, this one sat almost medium bodied, but alas, yes, a bit under, thus creating a fair sessionability about it. Maple helps to smooth things out but the roasty porter qualities help grind any possible cloying qualities. Feels damn good. Overall, this may be the absolute best beer Vermont Pub ever did, hoping they make this a regular in their lineup.
