Poured on-tap and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a copper coloring with a sparse white head and steady carbonation. Nose of tart and sour, with cherry and funk. Flavors of cherry, toasted grains, apple, and pear. The aftertaste is tart and farmy, with a crisp, tart finish. Light, crisp body. Some solid tart and sour tones, but not overpowering. Very crisp and drinkable.

more of a flanders red than anything else I think, as this is brewed in that style. it pours a reddish brown color, dense and unfiltered, with only a small quarter inch of tan head that slowly dissolves. the smell is lactic and tart, with some dried cherry sweetness and a whole lot of wild sour yeasts. the malt base is on the large side, red and amber, caramel and chocolate, lots of rich grain contributions in smell and taste. the cherry is intense on the tongue, and seems to permeate the taste buds as a result of the sharp carbonation. its not as sour as it smells, but it is tart and dry while remaining sweet, a very unique combination. it wasn't maybe the best choice with Cajun chicken wings, but the beer as a standalone is quite good. the feel hurts it for me, just a little too syrupy, despite being well carbonated, this beer is on the heavy side. the acid and the sweet coats my teeth and is a little funny in my stomach. one is enough, but this is one of the better funky beers around in Burlington right now.

Served on-tap in a 12oz snifter at the brewery
Pours a deep copperamber color with a thin white head that dissipated somewhat quickly - a bit cloudyhazy
The nose is quite sour and exciting. Light fruit come through - apple, pear, peach. A bit of spice as well
The sourness is the first flavor, then green apple crispness. The fruit rounds the back end of the flavor out, and finishes with a crisp peppery dryness that is refreshing and very pleasant.
Well balanced, carbonation is good.
A bit too thin but still a really nice beer

A local version of a Flemish Sour on tap at the brewery. Little head or retention/lacing from this beer but it did look lovely in my glass with its oak amber color. The smell was distinctly sour with a funky, earthiness. The flavors are sour. Really freaking sour. Some yeast notes, sour cherries and a finish like vinegar. I really can't call it pleasant. Mouthfeel is nice though, smooth and drinkable. But the flavors kill it for me. Good if you are into the style (my friend PJ who loves beers and Flemish Sours LOVES this) but not a beer I would readily recommend.

Also had this on tap at the Vermont Brewery/Pub. Served in a snifter.
A: Poured a hazy, red/brown color. Very nice color indeed. Had a nice, off white head that had good retention and produced some sticky lacing.
S: Smell is of sour fruit, and more sour fruit. Get some apples and pears going on. There are still some spices coming through.
T: Not unlike the nose but the flavors are very well balanced. Soure apple is very present but just sour enough. Nothing to turn you off or scare you away. A slight peppery spice rounds off the sourness a bit to even the field.
M: Yet again for Vermont Pub and Brewery, this bitch is thin. Very disappointing with this brew. The after taste is very sour and lingers a bit to help you distinguish some of the flavors. Still way too thin.
D: This beer is pretty impressive in the realms of nose, taste and appearance but seriously lacks in feel. This beer could be exceptional with a bit of tweaking and a heavier, less watery feel.

bring on the funk! pours a red hued light brown. neat head and lacing. served in a snifter this had a chance to open up and definitly smelled of cherries and sweet wood. you could smell the sourness if that makes sense. not totally mouth puckering but very well balanced in terms of tartness. the taste had notes of cherries but was not overly tart to be unenjoyable. i had as part of a sampler but enjoyed so much i had to order a snifter.

On tap at the Brewery.
Pours a hazed, brownish-red. The off-white head fades to a thin film leaving patchy lace. The aroma is lightly acidic. There are also notes of wood with a nice funky, lambic earthiness on the swirl.
Acidic tartness throughout, light cherry fruitiness in the center with a woody finish. It could use a bit more of a puckering quality in the finish. Light-bodied and moderately carbonated with a light dryness in the finish.
Really drinkable because it's not overly sour. A damn good shot at a Flanders Red.
