This pours a rich dark black-brown with a great cap of foam. Found this to have a prominent piney nose, especially as it warms, with a grapefruit citrus kicker. Nicely rounded bitterness and a sticky resiny flavor finish each sip.
Preferred this on draught, ended up taking a growler home.

On-tap at THG.
A: Pours a deep cola brown with a finger of oily head that faded into a thin collar. Sheets of lace were left down the glass.
S: Pine and mint on the nose, mild volatile booze. Straightforward.
T: Hop forward with ambiguous citrus notes up front followed by pine and perhaps wintergreen near the finish. Roast pokes through near the end, and combined with the oily pine hop quality, gives an earthy and woody type presence that wouldn't be found in a regular non-black IPA. Slight notes of chocolate rounds out the aftertaste alongside bitter pine sap and mint hops. Not much sweetness, roast is subdued but present. Raisin notes as the beer warms but no caramel. Light bready quality.
M: Medium body that’s on the fuller side, greasy fresh hop oil mouthfeel, normal carb that hits bubbly and scrubbing at first, then smooths out and melts away.
O: Solid hop punch but definitely on the hoppy roasted brown ale side of the black IPA spectrum. Drinks well but not something I'd seek out.

Had on tap at RRBC on 12/19. This was a very interesting dark (not quite black) IPA. Good balance of flavors and the darker nalt definitely plays a key role in balancing out flavors.
