RnD Series - On our 5 barrel pilot brewery, the beers in this series are a way for RRBC’s brewing team to develop new recipes, try different ingredients, and research brewing process techniques on a smaller scale. It’s also a way for Vinnie to get back to doing the thing that he loves the most- brewing beer!

Subdued, clear yellow body; fair carbonation; thick, sudsy head, white and somewhat sticky. Light bready nose with a well-balanced presence of pine resin and floral hops. Very little malt flavor up front; very subtle biscuit; mild bitterness with a grassy, pine-like; flavor; white grape must; hard to categorize fruity esters lurking in the background. Medium body; crisp; mild dryness throughout.
For an experimental India pale ale, this one is rather intriguing. It won't be mistaken for Pliny the Elder, Blind Pig, or Happy Hops, yet it still has a nice, subtle allure. Five hop varietals were used: Motueka, Nectaron, Nelson Sauvin, Pacific Sunrise, & Riwaka.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light straw amber with a three finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, lemon, mixed tropical fruit and some dankness. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, grapefruit, lemon, passion fruit, dankness; lemon lime finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess and sharp carbonation. A bright IPA with lots of lemon family citrus and rind and an undertone of dankness and mixed tropical fruit. Very nice lime finish and solid hop bitterness. My first IPA from the RnD series and a pleasant one, although oddly pale in color. Very summery and refreshing. Well done.

Look: Great bottle, classic RR design. In the tulip it's a slightly hazy, light straw yellow. Not much head at all. Major lacing present. Medium to slightly high carbonation (just right). Looks great!
Nose: Funky, dank, earthy hops, but also lemon zest and cream. Wow!
Taste: Follows suit, with grassy, herbal lemon hops and zesty lemon creaminess. Amazing.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied with a dry finish. This is almost as light as a "session" IPA, but not quite.
I'm impressed by this little hop monster. Different for sure! Some sort of garlicky funk comes through and I like it!

Nice and dry. Poured from a bottle into a chilled pint glass.
Never heard of some of the hops... Matueka, Nectaron, Pacific Sunrise, Riwaka. Only one of the hops was familiar: Nelson Sauvin. The nose is kind of piney and the finish is pretty quick and clean. What's not to like?
