Not quite sour but not quite clean either, the rustic and refined nature of wild yeast plays into the Russian River brewery with their research and development brewing program, bringing drinkers a sense of funk and fauna.
Their second rendition of Brett Beer offers a pale and tarnish gold appearance with an initial bloom of froth before falling to a lace. As the dusty funk of barn and cellar-like perfume swirls about the nose, so does weathered oak and fruit ahead of a dry maltiness of wafer, sourdough and creamy wheat. Shifting to a drier and spicier mid-palate, the character of dried grapefruit, orange, lemon, apple and grape precede a spicier balance of oak, hay, pepper a general mossy gaminess.
Light, dry and crisp, the off-clean ale leaves an aftertaste of musty cider and oaked chardonnay in a gently musty afterglow.

Bottle pour -not quite clear hazy-ish gold color, minimal white head, minimal lacing. Nose is a little sweet and a little sour. This is similar to sparkling apple cider with a bit of barnyard funk thrown in. Very mild all around.Interesting.
