On-draught @ Russian River in August 2016. $5.00 USD per pint.

Oddly dry, actually. And rough/coarse on the palate which isn't ideal and fatigues the drinker.

Hop profile is floral and faintly fruity. Naked hop bitterness does unfortunately escape the balancing sweetness of the pale malts; it's imbalanced. Build is aggressive for a pale ale - too much so for it's own good.

Drinkable but not as impressive as Russian River's other hoppy beers. I'd like to revisit this in finer grain, but based on this experience it's not a front runner in terms of Russian River's lineup.

All up in the brewpub to sample this one on tap. The liquid is gold and clear, almost an inch of head on it. Tons of hop aroma, bitter simcoes.

Dry cracker malt, plenty of hop bitterness in the 60 ibu range I would guess. Its awesome when RR can make such an easy drinker. They make hoppier and better beers, but this one is cool when you think of it as just 'average' for RR and it is still better than 90% of the pale ales out there.

Summary: super dry, plenty of hops, easy drinking.

Had on tap, at Russian River itself. You get the standard look for a pale ale, a color of gold, soft 3/5" white head on it, lots of clarity, and the carbonation bleeds upward at a fast pace.

Aroma, just a big blast of simcoe and not much else discernable. Just all up in this piece Simcoe style for days.

Easy drinking, the simcoe is pungent, but doesn't get into obliterating bitterness. As always, the grain bill is mild and some sugar prolly helped dry this one out. Zesty and herbal, its a big hoppy pale ale, far from complex, just smashes you. A good option instead of the higher abv ipas that they have there. Lighter, but plenty hoppy still.

Caramel tan color.
Aroma is grassy and a touch of pine, some dried grass.
The taste has a malty caramel note that's dialed back, with a piney hop flourish.
