The beer came is an elegant brown bottle with a black strip pasted across the cap announcing this beer to be just under the 5.9% ABV cap. The beer poured out a hazy golden yellow color with fizzy short lived head. The carbonation level was very lively and appeared to not subside during the entire session of drinking. The lacing on the sides of the glass was also quite a bit better than most lagers. The smell was very faint with a note of husky soured grains and some noble hops. The malts displayed a refreshing lemony sourness and a distinctly smoky zing. It was also a bit metallic in character. The hops were generally subdued with not a lot of bitterness. The mouthfeel was quite good for the style. It was substantial and filling and did not feel watered down.

This is a first beer for Inner City Brewing Company (which claims to be Atlanta’s first African American owned brewery), and is contract brewed by Atlanta Brewing Company. I like this first effort, and look forward to more offerings from them.
