More of a serviceable stout than a thick RIS. roasty one-dimensional, mouthfeel is not thick but like melted down coffee grounds. More of a good coffee. Better as it warms, its served on cold side. Opaque black. Lots of lace. Beer of the month served on-tap at the brewpub..

The Pepperwood Bistro's Beer of the month. The Waiter informed me that this can only be served in half-pints due to it's 9% ABV. I decided to sample this one to see what this brewer's interpretation of this style would be like.
This arrived to me a deep brown with a slight tan head on top which left considerable lacing throughout the glass. Smell is bold, roasted malts are the prominent scent here. In the flavor department however this drops a bomb. Bold roasted malt and prune aroma with a semi-dry but smooth finish. The ABV is a little apparent in this one so you do get a slight alcohol warming with this, overall not bad at all.
If you happen to make your way to this brewpub it is definitely worth a try.
