"Brewed for Momofuku restaurant group in Manhattan. It’s a combination of Kolsch/wit/rauchbier with a touch of salt and sour malt. Smoky, minerally, fruity, salty, and dry. "
From 11/23/12 notes. Had this at the Pony Bar - Hell's Kitchen location. 8 oz. pour.
a - Pours a hazy bright yellow color with one inch of white head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks like a kolsch.
s - Smells of smoke, wheat, biscuit, toasted malts, light fruits. Nose is ok but a lot of smoke and a little bit weird.
t - Tastes of smoke, wheat, bready malts, bsicuit, burnt rubber, musty, earthy notes. Again, a tiny bit weird, and a step down from the nose.
m - Light to medium body and low ot moderate carbonation.
o - Overall an interesting experiment, but one that missed the mark for me. Don't thnk the smoke goes well with the kolsch style, and it was just kind of weird overall. Wouldn't seek it out again.
