Mex. lager w/ Persian lime & Jalapeno peppers.

A: Vibrant rush of carbonation within a bright, and hazy orange colored body. The capping is dull cream, slight in size, and a bit washy atop before dissipating rather quickly. Glass decoration was bare.

S: Sweet lime on the nose with a distinct lager yeasty bite. Wet bread, and jalapeno peppers are soft ambience, while some sweet oranges break through with a moderate awareness.

T: The flavor was spicy, with the jalapenos a bit more pronounced, with the lime really taking center stage here. There is a soft heat, some yeasty spiciness, honeydew and grapes with some apple-citric twang to it. Spicy warmth becomes more distinct with warming of drink, with the focus being on the tip of the tongue.

M: Spritzy mouthful from the vibrant carbonation, has a medium build and viscosity to it with a smooth and slippery feel.

O: Good per style, everyday drinker that was fairly crisp and easy to manage heat wise. Good drinkability factor for multiples.

This is a "Mexican Style Lager Brewed with Persian Lime & Jalapeño Peppers". It's poured a hazy golden body beneath a short head of white foam. The aroma displays both the lime and the Jalapeños atop a basic, sweetish malt base although the Jalapeños are nowhere near as clear as the lime. The flavor follows but with equal parts lime and Jalapeño. The malt is sweetish, and that's balanced by the acidity of the lime. I'm not picking up any bitterness but nor did I expect there to be any. There's a little bit of spicy heat from the Jalapeño although I'm only 5 or 6 sips in at this point. As it is right now I think the amount of heat is perfect. I expect it to build on the palate as I work through it but we'll see. So far, so good. In the mouth it's light-medium in body and gently crisp. That explains the limited head to begin with but it makes sense because a higher carbonation level would emphasis the acidity of the lime and the heat from the peppers. I have no head whatsoever at this point, and I wonder if the acids from the lime and chilis is to blame. If so, well, that's a trade-off that you have to take as this is pretty damned good as it is. Ahh, I see that the label lists 17 IBUs which is higher than I thought it would be (more like 10-12) but that's fine as it totally works. I'm more than halfway through it at this point and the heat hasn't really built on me. Sure, there's some going for the first few sips until you really get into it but it hasn't built from there and I'm going to go with my first evealuation - the amount of heat is perfect. The amount of lime, malt, and Jalapeño flavor are right on the money as well. What a great surprise this little treat has been! I think this makes a great summer beer but you could really drink it all year 'round, especially with Mexican food. Nicely done!
