Bottle from the brewpub, originally rated it a 3.25, but it seems a little better without the dozen other bad beers around it.

Pours a dark mahogany brown, with a finger of dark tan foam. Minimal lace, thin collar around the rim of the glass. Skim parts quickly.

Smell of roast malt, with a faint nutty hazelnut cream note when swirled.

Roasty with light notes of coffee and unsweetened bakers chocolate. Tastes good but it's fairly light and watery. It could use some oats to beef up the body, but otherwise it was pretty solid. A higher point in an otherwise mediocre range from this brewpub.

A. Poured a black coffee with a creamy one finger tan head. Good lacing clings to the glass.

S. Coffee, chocolate, carmel, leaves, earthy

T. Coffee, chocolate, toffee. Rich and sweet with a great bitterness. Oatmeat and toasted malt brings a good character to this brew.

M. Nice & creamy texture, medium bodied good carbonation.

D. A very good oatmeal stout. Nice appearance, good taste. All around a good stout.

A - pours black with a nice looking, 1.5 finger head. Looks very tempting.

S - smells of sweet malt that is dominate by a lot of burnt malts. It is almost like their porter but a little bit sweeter.

T - As with the nose, the burnt malt dominates the taste. Starts off sweet, but then is dominate by some burnt / toasted malt flavors. After a while, the sweetness starts to shine and the burnt malts become a little more subdued.

M - nice and full and very smooth...must be the Quincy water because O'Griff's brews have some really consistent, solid mouthfeels to them

D - this was enjoyable, but just okay. Something about O'Griff's, but they have nice appearance and mouthfeels to them, but lack in the smell and taste categories. This one was decent, very middle of the road. I would go with the IPA here, but this is better than the Porter...

Pours a dark black color. 1/4 inch head with slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of roasted malts along with some other sweet malts (caramel). Fits the style of an American Stout. Mouth feel was smooth and thick with low carbonation levels present. A noticeable bitterness is at an appropriate level. Tastes of roasted malts up front, slight hops in the background, along with some sweet malt in the finish. Overall, a pretty good beer and worth a try.
