My opinions of the Barley & Hops beers in general were less than expected, but this one stood out among our gang. It was their seasonal-beer as of April 2008.
A= really nice dark deep, not much head but impressive from first glance.
S= lots of nice burnt caramels, malt and hops with some burnt coffee or chocolate undertones.
T= very nice; not nearly the carbonation of a lot of US-imported Scotch Ales (ie McEwan etc) nor the tongue-boggling licorice/anise thickness.
M= nice, slightly chalky chocolate-coffee dryness, yet slight watery-aftertaste.
D= very drinkable to try and probably drinkable in-session although I don't know the ABV.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
