While folks seem to come to Beach Chalet for the view and the food, the brews -- all on tap -- are as fresh as they get need to get. And freshness is the primary quality of this brew. Other than its use of hops in the finish, VFW Blonde is mostly only slightly above average.
This Blonde Looks like its could have more and more lasting foam. Smells tell me ale, but fruits unknown to me. Tastes are average until mid-palate and the hops assert themselves to provide needed balance. Not quite medium-mouthed.
I give good Overall Hugs to Beach Chalet for being the best watering hole in the extensive Golden Gate Park and preserving this exquisitely decorated and muraled beach house after it went from fashion. When adding this beer to BA, I used the menu description. It is largely accurate until the hype of the last two words.
