1 liter brown PET bottle, from EKO Market, Stavanger. No ABV is listed. Contains rye and barley malt extract. Clear brown colour, moderate to small off-white head. Distinct aroma of rye bread, also notes of caraway (which is an ingredient), hints of cola. Medium sweet flavour of rye bread / pumpernickel, malts, caraway, lemonade and cola. Weird.

From a plastic bottle. Pours a caramel color with no head. Smells of rye bread and caraway with a slight sourness. Light body. Tastes of rye with a lingering malty sweetness. Interesting, first kvass I've tried so nothing to compare it to. Very much a bread in a glass type of drink.

Lighter amber color than most, thin layer of foam, minimal lace.
Aroma of rye bread with caraway, bread yeast, raisin sweetness.
Dominant rye bread and caraway notes, fairly sweet. Adding the yeast clouds it up a bit and adds more flavor in my opinion.
Light to medium bodied, lower carbonation that fades away halfway through. Could use a little more sparkle.
Overall, this is very different than most commercial kvass, due to the caraway and rye malt addition. It’s still pretty sweet, but recommended if you like rye bread & caraway.

This is the sort of kvass that people who don’t think kvass should be considered under BA’s reach think of. The name says it all—but it’s not a soft drink like in the US.
Pours a thin brown. Minimal foaming, light body but also lightly sweet—avoids the cloying sweetness of other kvasses that lean more towards the soda side of things, without come off as watery either.
