A: Dark. Mysterious. Syrupy.
S: Aroma of molasses. Slightly sweet smelling.
T: Vague bitterness. The taste of grains is quite strong! Low sweets in this kvas!
M: Good carbonation. The bubbles have strength! A good point about Gubernija Russian Kvas: the carbonation stays for a long time!
O: I recognise that great effort has been made to create this kvas. Gubernija Russian Kvas would be a practical choice for people looking for a kvas which has thick/syrupy qualities yet has low sweetness.

Served in a Gale Sayers shaker pint glass.
After a little while, the Original Kvass Kick runs right back into Lithuania with another Gubernija offering. It pours a clear sunset amber topped by a finger of relatively short-lived dusty ecru foam. The head here is thicker and hangs around longer than most of the past OKK encounters. The nose comprises cocoa, fennel, pumpernickel, toffee, and molasses. Not bad here as well. The taste brings in more of the same, with more fennel, some maple syrup, some light walnut, and some light cola. The body is a straight medium, with a heavy moderate carbonation and a slick feel. Overall, I gotta say, this is one fine kvass! The flavors are bold without going over-the-top, and the yeast is toned down without sacrificing the breadiness. Good times.
