Had this on cask (w/oak chips) at Lures Bar & Grille in Crownsville. Delicious with definite vanilla and oak flavor. Please make this again, Heavy Seas!

Had at a tasting with a small pour in a pint glass from a keg.. A well made wee heavy with nothing to distinguish it from the pack. Not bad at all but lacked a lot of peat smokiness I like.

An ok Scottish ale that tastes of toasted malt, peat, chocolate, and some char. Not as sweet as some others I have had in the style. Not a bad beer, just not one that sticks out either.

On-cask 4/19/2015 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub, in Pawtucket, RI served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a dark reddish brown color, with a short dense off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains caramelized malts, some fruit, some vanilla but not much else.

T: The taste starts out bready with a hearty malt character. Then some sweet flavors of caramel, fruit and vanilla come in. The hops presence is very mild but complementary and creates a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: A little crisp and a little smooth but a bit watery, medium body, very light carbonation even for the cask, finish is slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, good kick, not the best representation of style, there are definitely better choices within the style.
