A house beer brewed for Greene Turtle restaurants by Heavy Seas.
GT has sort of a reputation as a frat boy hangout, but the only ones I've ever been to have been pleasant. Obviously, it's a chain restaurant you'll find in malls and touristy areas so it's not like it's the peak of culture, but so far as chain sports bars go they tend to be clean and peaceful and the food is pretty good.
So might as well try the house beer, then.
Coming from Heavy Seas (although the branding is not listed anywhere on the menu), the beer is, as you may expect, pretty old school. It's an APA of the sort you'd find at a high quality brewpub circa 1999. The pour is filtered and dark amber. The aroma and flavor both deftly balance toasty malt with tangy, lightly bitter hops.

Deep copper body, boardering on mahogany. The aroma and taste are bready and toasted malts, grapefruit and pine. Medium body with good carbonation. Nice, dry finish.
Love The Greene Turtle.

On tap at Greene Turtle-BWI. Wasn’t sure what to make of this at first, murky copper body and small dissipating head. Not very hoppy, so malt comes through in spades, slightly sweet, very bready/biscuity. medium weight, almost chewy. I kept waiting for that "Aha!" moment, which never came. Switched over to Loose Cannon after this....

Had at Green Turtle Salisbury. Beer arrived generously poured to lip. Unsure if no head/retention issue or just filled for value not appreance. But no lacing or any than soft rusty orange looking beer. Minimal nose. Taste was MOR hops and malts...no fans no enemies. Feel was acceptable for a lighter body pale. No complaints...but again nothing to rave about. Overall an unassuming better than commercial beer to match with burgers or wings. Good fit for GT. But also props for doing this with Heavy Seas...as well as some of their other craft inclusion. Oasis compared to Chilis; Ruby Tues, etc.

Very plain, and ordinary beer. This almost tastes like a pilsner. No hops, but it is drinkable. Overall I expected better from Heavy Seas.

Pours a thin head on a clear straw body.
The aroma is grainy.
The taste is a good malt and hop balanced flavor with a little caramel.
The texture is medium.
It's enjoyable.
