Appearance: pours a clear orange amber color with a short 1/4" head.
Smell: caramel, malt sweetness, and some earthy tones rise from the glass.
Taste: caramel, pepper, earthy bitterness, and some dark fruit.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp to start, smoother towards the finish.
Overall: a good doppelbock with some decent kicked up hop bitterness.

Surprised pleasantly by this one in a growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate.
This fine doppel pours into a snifter a nice ruby red mahogany with a moderate
head of off white foam that settles to a thick ring and thin light pool with spotty lacing.
Nose of sweet caramel malts, some spiciness akin to rye, and herbal notes from the hops.
Flavors exceed the nose with a nice spiced malt mingling with hops and breaded malts
making for a medium full mouth feel that is moderately carbonated and ends spicy with
hops. Excellent balance between hops and malt with a sweet spicy finish. This is one
collaboration I would love to have year after year. Excellent, and VERY happy to have tried
it in growler form.
Cheers to two of my favorite brewers!

In a pilsner glass the beer was a reddish amber color. There was a small tan head that left a bit of lace.
Caramel aroma. Herbal.
Very malt-forward. Caramel, followed by an herbal, spicy taste. The spice lingered.
Medium-bodied.
Enjoyed it.
