Heavy Seas Beer

 

A: cloudy; medium gold in color; 2 finger finely pored ivory head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;

S: not a lot of Citra coming through; some lemon and floral, but not a lot - more malt;

T: follows the nose from start to finish; a little harsh toward the end; mild bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: I expected more Citra character; this is certanly drinkable, but falls short of it's name;

Decent citrus ipa. Nice cloudy golden appearance with notes of citrus fruit and tastes of the same. Smooth finish and clean taste after. Not a huge fan of citrus iPas and this one is enjoyable.

From the can, it pours a hazy light golden amber with a large off-white head that slowly diminishes as you wait. Citrus is in the nose. Citrus is in the mouth. Nice!

 

 

Pours a very hazy grapefruit color with a white head that clings to the glass like fuzzies to Velcro as you drink the beer. The can advertises dank, and there is truth in advertising with this beer, because dank notes (primarily grapefruit and pineapple, with room for juicy tangerines as well) dominate the nose and the taste.

If this beer had a little more balance courtesy of a malt component, it would approach world class for me because of my appreciation for the Citra hop. Even without the malt, this is still imminently quaffable.

Yes, I went there. Can’t help it - Citra hops take me to my happy place.

A good upgrade from a decent base beer. Citra hops are always delicious, so it’s hard to make a bad beer with them. This is solid but just seems to be missing something. Tasty but not something to seek out.

 

 

 

Pours hazy, with just a slight citra smell. Not a lot of citra taste drinking it, but tasty nonetheless. Seemed more to me like a very good session, although at 6%...maybe not. A tasty beer and great value at it's price point (just under $10 in RI).

 

 

 

Poured from the tap into a mug. Pours hazy yellow orange with a small white head. Smells of strong citrus with slight fruitiness. Tastes of citrus hops with fruity aftertones. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, an above average beer.

Half way through my second 6 pack of 12 oz. cans (different batches).

I am liking this more and more though not changing my original rating which is already quite a bit higher than most. Not sure if this beer is underrated, really suited to my taste or possibly receiving favor of home town bias. All three most likely.
Moderate fruity citrus nose. Taste and feel are both solid while not outstanding. This is a nice easy drinking IPA in the neighborhood of the NE style if maybe a minor league one.
