This beer was very unique but not my favorite from the sampler pack from Heavy Seas. The smell was strong citrus with the lime in the background, but very different from the fresh-squeezed OJ seen in the citrus version of this beer. The taste was more along the lines of lime with a twist of the mango which I would have wanted the other way around. It was light on the mouthfeel and refreshing, but I'd rather have more of a mango front with a lime finish. There's Citrus and Mango in my sample pack and the Pineapple was the best out of the three.

TropiCannon Mango Lime from Heavy Seas Brewing. Purchased on 5 Aug 21 from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. $19.00 (Including tax) per 12-pack of 12 oz cans, in a variety pack with six Citrus, three Mango Lime, and three Pineapple ($0.133/oz). On room temperature shelf at store, stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 8/8/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Can marked on bottom “BEST BY 07/15/21”. Served at 47.3 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 55.9 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5
First pour – Pale Gold (SRM 4), slight haze.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), hazily opaque. When rear-lite, translucent.
Head – Large (Maximum five cm, aggressive center pour), ghost white, medium density, fair retention, rapidly diminishing to a six to eleven mm ragged crown and a rocky partial cap. Second pour produces a 0.3 cm cap.
Lacing – Fair. Single band of badly torn curtain lacing.
Aroma – 3 – Weak lime/lemon, no malt, no yeast, no mango.
Flavor – 3 – Begins moderately bitter and a lot perfumy. Possibly some lime but VERY weak and transitory. No malt. No yeast. No mango. No ethanol (7.25 % ABV, as marked on container) taste. No gastric warming initially, but it begins to build toward the end. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, watery, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.25 Not sure why but this leaves an impression of being soapy. The flavor is weak, poorly defined, and falls far short of its potential.

I got a can of this beer out of a mixed 12pck that I got from my local beer store located just around the corner. It poured a clear copper with thin white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had lime citrus mix aroma. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with mixed bitter citrus and sweet berry puree. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a decent beer.

I love the original Tropicannon, no shame in fruit juice IPAs. This one is a disappointing miss though. It smells bright and fruity, maybe a little bit of a chapstick smell. The first moment of the first sip follows it and for half a second I thought it was an amazing fruity beer, but the palate is immediately overwhelmed by just straight up cough syrup. It's all I could taste in every subsequent sip too. This one went down the drain.
The pineapple one in the variety pack has a little bit of a medicinal note, but not nearly as bad.

Slightly hazy deep gold/light amber, nice off-white head, good retention, streaky lace
Great mango aroma! A bit of bubblegum as well.
Lots of mango flavor , bubblegum as well, underlying citrus and a touch of sweet malt
Medium bodied, good carbonation
If you want a fruit IPA, this would probably be your jam.

12 ounce can poured into a tumbler.

It pours clear and amber showing plenty of rising bubbles and is topped with almost two fingers of off-white soapy foam. The head slowly recedes to just a cap and leaves a little lace. Strong but somewhat artificial fruity aromas dominate the nose, lime, cherry and light orange over slight caramel malt but I don't get any mango. The taste is light on hop flavor and I cant really tell if it is overpowered by malt or added fruit flavoring, though I believe this is less sweet than the base beer. Along with citrus, lime and some pine it does have a tropical quality to the flavor which is the closest thing to mango that I can perceive. It finishes with a moderate piney bitterness. Body and carbonation are both in the medium range, soft, with a hint of crispness and some light astringency.
I'm not a fan of the other TropiCannon brews but this one, to me, is much different from them and I unfortunately have a low opinion of it but am curious to see what others think.
