From the can, it pours a nice clear orangey golden color with a very nice off-white head that slowly reduces and leaves lacing. The nose gets candylike melon scents. The mouth gets the same - a syrupy melon flavor that is exactly as advertised, but not pleasant to me.

Heavy Seas Beer "TropiCannon Melon IPA"
12 fl. oz. can "22126 BEST BY 12/26/22" and sampled on 01/15/23
$21.99/12-pk TropiCannon variety case @ Javies Beverage, Phila., PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: After sampling their piña colada version, which wasn't that bad, and their strawberry-banana version which was a disaster, I'm starting to think the TropiCannon sampler might have been a bad idea. Hopefully this will bring some redemption to the mix. It's poured a mostly clear amber beneath an incha nd a half of white foam, and just like the strawberry t appears to be a little bit darker than the others that I've tasted so maybe I'm wrong in thinking that the base beer is the same for all of the TropiCannon IPAs. The aroma is mild and I'm getting a little bit of melon but not much. The flavor delivers a lot more melon, as well as some candyish apple, pear, and strawberry-like fruitiness. I don't particularly find the fruit flavor itself overtly artificial but there's something else to it that's definitely artificial, unpleasant, and a bit medicinal. I'll assume that they come from the same source, which is the flavoring, but I don't find them as melded together as I did with the strawberry-banana version. I'm getting some maltiness here, and a fair amount of bitterness. It's odd but still drinkable although I'd never buy this again, and I have to ask, who is? This is available year 'round so they must be selling it. It's medium bodied and crisp as expected. The head held up OK and there's some lacing but it's not great. I still have have two more cans of this, and two more cans of the strawberry-banana, and I have to figure out what I'm going to mix them with to make them drinkable.

Best by 1-30-23. 12oz can poured into a tulip.
Pours golden with nice clarity and transparency; big fluffy white head that falls leaving great thick retention and sticky frothy lacing.
The aromas have a nice amount of melon which might be artificial but it doesn't come off as over the top. Malts are there.
The flavors don't seem too fake or artificial. More melon leading the way. Some honeydew and cantaloupe. Solid bitterness. Moderate to low sweetness. Malts do their thing. Alcohol goes unnoticed.
Mouthfeel is nice. It's medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's sharp, fluffy, and smooth.
This is a solid IPA. The flavors seem more natural compared to the other TropiCannon beers in this variety pack. It's much better than the Piña Colada and Strawberry Banana versions. Not bad.

Part of the 2022 TropiCannon variety pack. Melon IPA smells somewhat like honeydew, but the taste is pretty bad. I'm not sure if there's any actual melon in the mash or if it's sonly flavoring added to the beer while it's in the fermentation vessel. At any rate, I could barely drink half the can and I had to dump it down the drain. Very disappointing, but not as bad as the Strawberry Banana IPA that is included in this variety pack.
