The pour that emptied a pint can into a clear Imperial pint glass went just about perfectly. This, allowing for the addition of some key lime juice, is a refreshing return to some of the basics of IPAs. No fluffy head, no murkiness. nor weird coloring here, it's just a dull golden amber. Probably a little more opaque than the traditional ones of this style, but other than that, it looks like the quintessential India Pale Ale. It does lack a head and decent glass lacing. Not surprisingly, it smells like an IPA with some lime in it. It tastes like an IPA with some lime in it. But, the lime is reasonably subtle and the IPA itself is quite drinkable. Really, all the lime inclusion seems to do is argument the bitter hop bite, which isn't all that extreme. A great IPA probably wouldn't be much spoiled by a little lime in it. A decent IPA can't become a great one by adding a little extra flavor. This one fits the latter, which doesn't make it bad at all.
