From the can, it pours a nice clear orangey golden color with a very nice off-white head that slowly reduces and leaves lacing. The nose gets a pina colada scent. The mouth gets candylike pina colada flavor that is exactly as advertised, but not pleasant to me.

Heavy Seas Beer "TropiCannon Piña Colada IPA"
12 fl. oz. can "22126 BEST BY 12/26/22" and sampled on 01/15/23
$21.99/12-pk TropiCannon variety case @ Javies Beverage, Phila., PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: I couldn't pass this up! A piña colada IPA? How weird is that? I love coconut, and I love the combination of pinapple and coconut so what could go wrong? It's poured a mostly clear amber beneath a finger's width of white foam. The aroma is mainly like sweetened coconut cream with pineapple coming in second, and it's a little perfumey as well. It smells good so let's give it a taste... well, it doesn't live up to the aroma but I didn't think that it would. This is an IPA, not some creamy cocktail and it comes across as such. The bitterness is an eye opener when you've smelled what appears to be sweet and then you taste it. It's clearly an IPA base, although I'm not finding any hop flavors even if they're there as the piña colada flavoring is pretty strong. It's weird but I can't figure out if it's a bad weird or a good weird. I will say that the more of it I drink the more I get used to it and like it, and now I'm getting some melon flavor as well. It finishes dry with some bitterness, a hint of pine, and pineapple and coconut lingering. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp as expected. What's the ABV on this? Whoah! It's 7.25% and I wasn't expecting that. All of the flavors are 7.25% so I assume it's one base beer with different flavorings added. The head has held up well and I still have a mostly complete surface covering that's nice and creamy. The lacing could be better but it's still better than average. I'm not sure that I'd buy this again unless it was summer and I was going to an outdoor event where it would make sense.

Best by 1-29-23. 12oz can poured into a tulip.
Pours golden with great clarity and transparency; big fluffy white head that falls leaving great thick retention and sticky frothy lacing. Looks great.
The aromas are obviously tropical. Lots of piña colada vibes. Lots of pineapple and coconut. Some malts. It might smell artificial but it still smells nice nonetheless.
The aromas follow the nose, but not exactly in a good way. There's way too much artificial flavoring going on. Lots of "pineapple and coconut". Solid bitterness. Moderate sweetness. Finishes juicy and dry at the same time. Mild alcohol notes.
Mouthfeel is nice. It's medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's thick, creamy, smooth, and slightly fluffy.
The flavors take this one down a notch. As fake and artificial as they are, it actually becomes more pleasant the more you drink it. It's still extremely rough around the edges though.
