For Impending Doom 4, we decided to brew another massive hazy and juicy Double IPA similar to the first Impending Doom in the series. Brewed with Citra, Enigma, Cashmere, and Sabro, this special blend of hops is dripping with fresh citrus juice and tropical aromas.

Notes via stream of consciousness: So wasn't the last "Impending Doom" release a hazy Tangering double IPA? I might have that wrong, but if not, is this the base beer for that one? It's a cloudy golden orange with a bit of brass to it beneath a creamy finger's width of antique-white foam. The aroma isn't that hoppy but it does suggest tropical fruits and malt, as well as some woodiness. On to the taste then, it's citrusy but not particularly clear as to what citrus fruits it might be delivering. I'm also getting some papaya, peach, melon, pineapple, and guava. There's more to it than that though. As I'm working through it I'm getting even more including some lemon-lime, red berries, herbs, wood, and coconut. It's interesting, and not in your face. I kind of wish there was more to it but at the same time I kind of like it as it is because everything is gently blended together which keeps it well rounded. The alcohol is there but it's not threatening "Impending Doom", it's just a background note. The bitterness is held back as well, and it's what I'd call median for a double IPA. Along with the alcohol it's mostly dry in the finish. I mainly get tangerine and nectarine lingering although there is some woodiness that's kind of like Cedar. It's medium-full in body and surprisingly creamy and smooth. The head has held up quite well and there's some very nice lacing but it's not great. I think the "Impending Doom" moniker is a little bit much given what's here but at the same time it is quite quaffable so if you're not careful with it you could be headed for trouble.

Can into pint glass. Pours a clear hazy honey color with a fine, bright white head. Not much lacing. Initial impression is light malt, sweet fruit, citrus and a hint of pepper. Mouthfeel is fairly thick. Finish fades to a citrus-y sweetness, eventually resolving itself into a lingering sticky itterness. Overall, it's quite drinkable but not outstanding.

This good but extremely boring. There's not really anything wrong with it but it seems redundant even with changing the hops. It just doesn't have any uniqueness at all.

12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip.
L: Hazy and orangish, fluffy cream-white head, moderate retention.
S: Pine and tropical fruit.
T: Mostly piney with some zesty bitterness, peppery and a little sticky.
F: Medium-full body, medium carbonation, crisp with an underlying smoothness.
O: Decent but average.

Hazy light caramel and orange, thin off-white head, ok retention,
Big nose of mango, grapefruit, pine, and coconut
Tastes like it smells, a bit of a caramelly malt backbone, kinda muddled and flat
Heavy bodied and lower carbonation
No me gusta
