Our 30th anniversary beer is a barrel-aged strong ale thundering in at 11.5% ABV, aged in a fierce trifecta of bourbon barrels, rye barrels, and sherry barrels. Bold, complex, and unapologetically powerful, this storm doesn’t just roll in — it conquers!

This brew is the culmination of 30 years of brewing exploration, creativity and innovation, employing ingredients and techniques that have come to represent the Heavy Seas spirit.

16 oz. can poured into a nonic pint glass on National Beer Day 2026, April 7th

Pours a deep dark red with two fingers of tan head that falls away rather quickly. Scant lacing as the head falls to a ring of bubbles. VERY pretty beer.

Nose of malt and BOOZE, especially sherry, hopefully from the sherry barrel and NOT from oxidation from prolonged aging.

Medium mouthfeel with not much carbonation.

Beer is pretty straightforward on the palate. It starts with a solid malt note, then straight to BIG liquor which is more warming than burning, but definitely both. The end is more booze which melds with a balancing bitterness that continues into the aftertaste. Alcohol becomes more prevalent as the beer warms.

Pairs well with a raspberry linzer from Farkas Bakery in Cleveland. Their rumball, should I have not already eaten it, would have probably been a better choice.

Overall a beer for which I had higher expectations. Just too much liquor character to be enjoyable to the end of the pint. Body was also a bit thin for my liking.

A pint can that pours with a decent khaki colored head initially, settles into a ring of foam.
No lacing.
Dark pour, a light coffee/Mahogany color with some clarity. Slightly transparent towards the bottom.
Roasted Caramel malt, vanilla, toasted coconut. The finish is a little boozy, with a spicy Bourbon/Rye aftertaste.
