This is an unfiltered lager flavored with cherry plum.
Look: It's a nice golden color and a bit darker than most lagers. Carbonation is fine and fairly heavy - similar to wheat beer. It pours with a one-finger head which quickly dissipates, and there's fairly light lacing.
Smell: Bready malt and cherry plum
Taste: My first impression of the taste was that the beer is quite tart, with cherry plum and a bit of hops bitterness coming through, supported by light bready malt flavor. I had expected more of a dessert beer taste. However, as my palate adjusted to the initial tartness, the beer seemed to sweeten considerably, and the more I drank, the more I tasted the cherry plum flavor. Toward the end of the beer, the cherry plum flavor became quite pronounced.
Feel: The beer is light to medium bodied, at 12.5 gravity.
Overall: The cherry plum flavor is nicely captured - without the beer being too tart or too sweet, and without the cherry plum flavor overly dominating the beer. I think this beer is well-crafted to have achieved that balance. This marks my first experience with fruit and field beers, and I'm glad to have tried this one. However, I purchased this beer at a considerable discount, as it was within seven weeks of its expiration. At it's regular price, it's quite expensive.
