Free the Hops had this beer at their Fall FestivAle www.fallfestivale.com and I took home a growler afterwards. Thanks to Brooks at Yazoo for bringing this to the event.
a - poured a two-fingers thick eggshell colored head into a tulip glass that left a thin ring that disappeared halfway through. the body was a dark brown bordering on black.
s - some tart fruit and yeastiness in the nose. the nuttiness from the dos perros is coming through the most.
t - hint of sour dark cherries and raisins with some dark chocolate underneath. the maltiness from dos perros is coming through as well. very balanced.
m - smooth at first but becomes more bubbly.
o - really interesting and nice brew.

I was impressed with the creativeness employed in this beer - using the quite-good Dos Perros as the base and then funking it up with nice Beglgian-centric yeast. Pour was a deep chestnut brown with a slightly sweet malt note, but no roasted flavors, which would have been a detraction. Fruity yeast flavors, a touch peppery. Nicely done.

Taproom exclusive. Dos Perros wort fermented with saison yeast.
A: Pours a murky brown with a finger and a half of tan head. Slowly recedes leaving a thin film and a fair amount of lacing around the glass.
S: Unmistakable zesty saison right off the bad. Lemon and spice really dominate things. If you get your nose in the glass, you can start to smell the Dos Perros qualities of nutty and toasted malts. Very yeasty.
T: Saison domination continues in the taste which isn't a bad thing really. Lemon, peppery, tart, nutty and bready. Good taste.
M: A little thin, but not terribly so. Tart and dry.
O: Very drinkable. I have an entire growler to myself so it better be. It's good to see Yazoo experiment with things and offer something out of the ordinary. I like Spring Puppy and hope to see it again next year.
