What a nice surprise this beer was- I had never even heard of this brewery until a growler showed up to be shared at a local tasting. Quite a solid beer, and great to see such quality from (another) Southern brewery. Pours a reddish brown with a solid head- very nice, and looks like a wee heavy should. Smells of bubblegum and fruit with a whiff of smoke. Both light and appetizing, but with a sense of hidden gravitas. The taste is very nice indeed. Sweet malt, some roastiness, and some alderwood smoke- quite aromatic, and very rich overall, but somehow still retains a dry bite. Big and bold, but held in control. An excellent wee heavy, and a brewery I'll be looking out for from now on.

Very dark brown pour here, lots of opaqueness with an almost chocolate color brown. Small thin head of tan on top receded quickly and left behind only small amounts of side glass lace, though the color gets points across the board.
Nice sharp, quick and very sweet aroma here. Lots of caramel malts and a nice touch of hops hitting it as well. Intresting notes of candied sugar as it warms and a touch of alcohol. The flavor was rediculous. Super smooth, delicous, and a classic big scotch ale. Rich caramel malts and a luscious and very creamy profile that I was most impressed with I have to say. Very long lasting flavor with touches of herbal hops and a mellow sweetness that lasted long into the night.
