Beer trip up to the Bay with d0ggnate. Cool spot with a cool bartender, in a cool city.

A_ Very light golden, like a chardonay. Just a little white head.

S- Strong sweet bananas, and that is all.

T- Creamy bananas with mingled cloves, a little white pepper. No alcohol noted.

M- Thin, crisp. Nice tiny bubbles.

D- Easy to drink, alcohol well hidden.

I stumbled upon Thirsty Bear on a recent trip to the Bay. I'm sure happy we made it here. This beer was a shocker. It looks like a poor Belgian Wit, but looks are deceiving.

A: A thin, glass-rimming head prevailed. Beer poured to a light yellow/gold color.
S: Only noticed hints of faint citrus.
T: Smooth citrus and a light banana flavor.
M: Quite watery and slick. Absolutely no cues of alcohol.
D: At 10% ABV, this beer will shock you. It is like drinking a lemonade. A few too many of these could ruin your night, but in a hungover, story to tell later kind of way.

I had this on tap at Thirsty Bear in San Francisco, CA. It was listed there as a Belgian Golden Ale (not a Fruit/Wheat...). It had a clear golden color, transparent, and a large head with lots of lacing. It had a kind of yeasty aroma to it. The taste was also of yeast, but with fruit...maybe berries?...tones to it. It didn't have too much of an aftertaste or hops to the taste.

Pours a clear yellow body, with a fluffy white head. Spicey and fruity aroma. Some cherries, peach and honey. A belgian style fruit beer, very sweet and yeasty. Packed with quite a bit of alcohol. Carbonation is sharp. Very drinkable. Interesting seasonal from Thirsty Bear. They offer a variety of styles and the attempts are quite good.
