I had no idea that a German brewery would take a shot at an American IPA. Faust did a pretty good job!!! Bought an 11.2 oz bottle at the brewery in Miltenberger and drank it out of a Weizen glass on the cruise ship. Pours a hazy light brown color with golden highlights. Big beige head with good retention and patchy lacing. Aroma and taste are of caramel malts and grassy hops. The hoppiness is more pronounced than in any German beer I ever tried. Tastes pretty good but not like a US hop bomb. My bottle was 7 percent abv. not 8 like it is listed here. In any case, the alcohol was well hidden and there was a nice balance between grassy hops and caramel malt. The beer is overall rich and smooth with a very moderate hops bite. Anyone touring Germany that is getting tired of lagers should try this beer.
