Been wanting to give this one a try as the first two from this Hopping series were not bad (for a Japanese beer.) Now this one is not that straightforward, although it says IPA on the can, I’d rather label it a (semi-)fruit beer as it has been brewed with yuzu peels, a kind of citrus oh so popular in Japan. Its name, “Yuzufuwa” suggests that not only it is made with Yuzu but also it is soft and smooth (fuwa) and it is really so. Although one would expect it to be like an IPA, it is much more fruity and much smoother, moch softer, sometimes even a bit too much. I wouldn’t mind a bit more carbonation and a bit more punch (in my face…)
I feel having been slightly misled by the misnomer, as a fruit beer it is quite okay, as an IPA it makes you want to grab a REAL one.
