During the 1800's, when the sun never set on the British Empire, beer being shipped to the Far East always arrived spoiled. To correct this situation, British brewers added large quantities of hops to their pale ales. (Hops act as a natural preservative.) The result is an intensely hoppy amber beer.

Really hard to give this an accurate read as there was a slightly soapy taste that I suspect may’ve been the glass. Enough flavor peaking through to suggest a decent and highly traditional IPA hiding under here and it definitely had the look. I will give it a second look next time I circle through.
