Landwehr-Bräu "Kellerbier"
on tap at the brewery on 18 September 2017
Notes: Very hazy dark gold body beneath a full head of white. Excellent head retention and lacing. Aroma of grainy Pilsner malt with a touch of floral and gently herbal hops. The flavor follows with some additional light caramel and honey to the malt. A moderate bitterness balances it and it finish short and dry. In the mouth it's medium bodied and smooth with a fine-bubled, effervescent carbonation. Quite charming. Really nicely balanced.

Stopped into my fave Rothenburg dining establishment, the Gasthof Butz, on 29SEP21.... Was hoping for a Tucher Bajuvator Doppelbock, but was not on the menu. Opted to try this local brew instead. Served from a 0.5l bottle, at €3.50.
Was a clear, rich, medium-golden hue. Had steady carbo and a fine, thin, off-white head, with OK lacing. Nose had lightly toasty malts with floral hop action. Body was medium, and it was quite airy and prickly on the tongue.
Tasted also of lightly toasted malts, and was very dry. Had floral, herbal hoppage in a decidedly bitter finish. Not my cup of tea, though the Schnitzel was top-friggin'-shelf! Prosit!

Light amber in color and clear. Small head and little lace (a couple of spots).
Malty with little hop to the nose.
This reminds me of an American amber ale with perhaps a little extra hop zing. The beer is rich with a neutral carbonation level. Rather pedestrian overall, but it hits the spot on a warm German day.

From the bottle, it pours a cloudy golden amber with a nice small head, which slowly reduces. Some hops and yeast in the nose. Easy on the tongue and mouth, it screams for a repeat! Recommended!!

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a pint glass.
Appears very cloudy, actually very cloudy is an understatement, I can see lumps of yeast about 1mm long floating around.
The smell is pungent of hops and yeast.
Tastes quite sharp at first with quite a kick from the hops and yeast floating around. As it becomes less cold it gets alot smoother and very drinkable, with the same excellent taste.
Overall a great beer which I would buy again.
