From the half liter bottle, it pours a solid copper color with a modest, slowly diminishing off-white head. Lacing. The nose gets some grainy malt and a touch of caramel. The taste follows with a nicely malty brew with some caramel and roast notes.

Landwehr-Bräu "Kircheweihbier"
3,10€ / ,5L on tap at the brewery-restaurant on 18 September 2017
A kirchweih is a church fair that's normally held in the fall, and this is available from mid-July to the end of October. It has a starting gravity of 13.2˚ Plato, and 5.4% ABV. It's a clear deep copper beneath a full head of yellowed off-white foam. Somewhat better than average head retention and lacing. The aroma displays caramelish malt with some light apple and a touch of woody spiciness. The flavor follows with even more medium and medium-dark caramel. A moderate to median bitterness balances it perfectly and it finishes dry with some light spiciness lingering. Medium bodied and smooth with a fine-bubbled, moderate carbonation. This is a really unique beer that has something unusual going on within it but it's not strong enough that you can figure out what it is. That makes it compelling, and given that it's quite quaffable you'll certainly want a second serving.

A Märzen-style Bier brewed by Landwehr for Kirchweih. From http://www.bambergbeerguide.com/calendar.asp is the following: "Kirchweih" refers to an annual church festival to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the church. Often times the local brewery will brew a special beer and there is food, music, games, etc. It really is the equivalent of a town fair.
Poured into tall 0.5l glass, it is a deep, clear bronze hue, with a short head comprised of tight, fine bubbles, light tan in color. Minimal lacing is left in the glass. Aroma is extremely mild, with toasty overtones but very light on the hops. Body is a solid medium; real nice. Passes rather smoothly on the tongue, with just a smidge of carbonation to rough things up. Flavor is pretty flush with caramel malt and more toasty/bready aspects. That light sweetness lingers well, with some light, floral hoppiness there at the end to break things up and add balance. Very much a Bier that would be right at home in a 1.0l Maß-krug at a Fest somewhere.... and then shortly thereafter in my belly!
Prosit!!
