On-tap 1/7/2014 at Doherty’s Ale House, in Warwick, RI served in a tapered mug glass.
A: The beer is a dark coppery brown color, with a thin off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a decent lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains coffee, caramelized malts, some Belgian yeast and a faint touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out bready with a hearty roasted malt character and some Belgian yeast. Then some flavors of coffee and a little fruit come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, it’s a solid beer to drink for a while but there are better choices within the style.
