Notes: A mostly cloudy body is capped with a light, fluffy head that reveals soft notes of citrus and spices. Whether you prefer partly sunny or mostly cloudy, this brew will happily keep your glass half full.

Mostly Cloudy is modeled after the original Belgian Witbiers brewed in monasteries during the 14th Century. We’ve refined the recipe of our Belgian White, given the packaging a new look and released it under the new name, Mostly Cloudy—although it pairs equally well with sunrays and cloudy days.

12oz bottle in a pint glass.

Clouded light straw color, just about a 2F white cap that fades to a thin film and leaves modest spot lacing.

Spiced lemon wheat and good old "beer malt".

More citrus than anything else; lemon and a bit of orange. Chalky yeast.

Light and bright with a bit of yeast jazz and spiced citrus tang.

A well balanced summer brew.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a soft hazy golden yellow color with a one finger white foamy to bubbly head that quickly dissipated leaving barely any lacing. The smell started off with an ample amount of yeasty/breadiness that retreated a bit as it warmed and allowed a nice citrus sweet to slightly bitter citrus rind. The taste was semi-sweet through the yeasty/breadiness and combines a bit more with the citrus sweet part and the citrus rind part. Bitterness makes a good effort to balance but stays slightly under to roll into a slightly gentle sweet citrus aftertaste. There’s no finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation feels right for a witbier - shows some harshness but nothing overly done. Overall, its a pretty good witbier that I could have again, and wouldn’t mind having with food.

Served in a flute.

Appearance: Cloudy gold wbracelet to a white head rising maybe half a finger's length. Drops quick with zero lacing.

Smell: bland hops. No bueno at the very best.

Taste: Little sour, lightly malty. I'm trying to like this beer but it's a little tough.

Mouth: Comes and goes with a medium carbonation.

Overall: Ehh, I have had way better...came in a sampler which I could always hand off to my buddies which is the best purpose for the brew. No disrespect for Long trail, I love a lot of their beers but this did nothing for me. Salud!

A sad example of a Witbier. After a good pour into my Weissen glass the huge head literally disappeared in 6 seconds leaving me with a glass of what looked like a urine sample.
Taste was that of a watered down real Witbier with a slightly bitter after taste that just doesn't fit the style. Smell was...well you really had to sniff very hard...unexceptional.
All in all a poor representation of the style. Maybe that's why I paid 5 bucks for a six pack.

I had this beer at a food truck festival in mid October. Funny that it says a summer beer when it was more of a fall like festival.
Very smooth taste and smooth finish to go along. I enjoyed it and it paired well with all the food there.

Cloudy, of course, amber color. Little if any residual head or lacing after the pour settled. Bitter aftertaste, not a bad witbier, but an okay one. Needs to be ice cold.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Spieglau wheat glass.

Look is a hazy golden yellow with a thin head.

Aroma is phenolic little banana not completely pleasant.

Taste is a little clawing sweet but thin with a lingering after taste.

Not all together a balanced or pleasant beer. Definitely won't be seeking out.

A- Pours less cloudy than expected into a goblet with a pale straw yellow body. A fizzy head forms but dies very quickly to almost nothing and lacing just doesn't happen here.

S- Lacks the robust strength of aroma that is often found in the style. Hints of coriander, tart oranges, wheat bread and general Belgian yeast spiciness.

T- A really laidback brew even compared to some of the lighter versions of this style. Soft spiciness leads to hints of lemon and orange citrus, coriander, herbal tones, cracked wheat and pale fruit like white grapes.

MF- The appearance makes a bit more sense as the brew is very light on the palate with just a fizzy texture and slight foaminess; really comes off quite thin.

I usually equate Long Trail with having a rich, full-bodied brew and even for a summer seasonal this one comes off thin and too tame for what is usually a flavorful style.

This witbier pours an opaque dark yellow / orange color with an almost non-existent head and a fairly high amount of carbonation. The smell is mild, but pleasant, a little bit fruity with hints of orange and also some coriander and bready notes. The taste is much the same with coriander and orange being the primary flavors with some yeasty bread flavor as well. The finish, however, is semi-dry and there is a strange slightly acrid aftertaste, although this seemed to go away as the beer warmed up a little bit. The body is lighter than I would have expected. It actually tastes kind of watered down, so that combined with the carbonation it almost tastes soda-like. I have enjoyed some of the other beers from this brewery, but this one is a miss for me, which may be partially because I’m not real big on the witbier style, but not completely.

The appearance is not nearly as cloudy as the name would indicate and there is hardly any head. Neither the nose or the flavor profile has the level of funkiness that most wits possess.

Mostly Cloudy by Long Trail Brewing Co. is an exciting and friendly beer. It is very tasty and full of great flavors. Strong citrus notes are present, and the aftertaste is clean and refreshing. I enjoy this beer in the late winter/spring seasons and it is a real treat. Because of it's powerful flavors, I wouldn't drink this beer on a daily basis. Overall, I'm a fan of this beer.

Poured into a Dogfish traditional oversized snifter. Bottleneck says 3/13/15.

A- Pours a hazy light amber color with barely any head that immediately fades to nearly no surface foam. Minimal lacing.

S- Usual wheaty/yeasty aroma of a witbier. Somewhat sweet with fruity esters that bring some orange notes.

T- Generic run-of-the-mill wheat beer flavor. Honestly not much more going on here than in a Blue Moon. Weak finish.

M- Decent amount of fruity tang from the yeast but the medium-low carbonation leaves a bit to be desired.

O- Pretty lackluster IMO. Even when the yeast is introduced there's not much more character or richness brought to the table.

Poured 12 oz bottle into snifter glass. 4.7% abv.

Appearance- Pours a light yellow. Color similar to a pear. Two finger head quick to dissipate. the name implies, clarity-wise, this beer is mostly cloudy!

Smell- Toasted cracker, Lemon, Orange peel, peppery spice.

Taste- Sweet, bready malt. A touch of orange citrus lingers about with a faint hint of banana. Sharp finish with spice notes of clove and pepper, with a bit of wheat in there as well.

Mouthfeel- Light in body with adequate carbonation.

Overall- A decent witbier with good flavor and high drinkability.

This was probably one of my favorites beers of the summer and the quickest selling for my bar - sold a 1/6bbl in four days. It had a cloudy yellow haze look with a one inch head. These reviews are surprisingly underwhelming and a great summer drinking beer.

Not the best of the style, but fairly decent offering. Pours hazy golden with no head or lacing. Aroma of ripe fruit, primarily banana. Flavor is also fruity, and really enjoyable. Unfortunately it's a bit over-carbonated, yielding a somewhat rough finish.

It's pretty tame and safe. I would buy it again, but it's not my first choice. I like the light flavors and it is what it advertises. There are some better ones on the market. The citrus taste is very light and it's good for hot summer days. There are some better modern options for a Belgium white types. It's better than any of the Shock Top variety. But U.F.O.s are much better. Overall it's pretty solid.

i love a good wit in the summer, and this is better than its ratings i think, but for me it left a little to be desired. for one, the spice complexion seems overdone to me. i get coriander and orange peel of course, but i also get lemon rind, black pepper, clove, and allspice or something rather autumnal and pungent that takes it out of summer a little bit for me. makes it not quite refresh as hard, and thats one of the best features of the style. still, it has a lot going for it, plenty of body and carbonation makes it feel really nice on the palate. its also quite interesting, more flavorful than many and certainly not generic. the spices linger long though, and there is a bitterness that doesnt really belong. i like that these new beers are coming out from long trail, its been awhile since they released a bunch of cool new beers, but this one isnt the best of the recent crop. ill try it again in the fall, i think with the spices and the body it might work better in that context.

Inconsistent brewing. I bought the Summer Survival Pack from Long Trail, which includes this Belgian style witbier, and these did not all taste the same. They were all bottled on the same date, at least as far as I could read, because the dates printed on these were very blurry, but they must have come from different batches or something.

The first bottle I tried was sort of watery, and had a very indistinct flavor to it. I could faintly taste citrus and orange peel, but I really didn't taste any coriander or spice at all. It honestly felt like I was drinking Rolling Rock or something, because there was really no clear flavor, it was very watered down. The second bottle, on the other hand, almost tasted like I was drinking a completely different beer. Much more defined orange flavor, thicker feel, and I could definitely taste the spice this time. Far better, and it tasted somewhat similar to Harpoon's UFO White, though a bit more muted. Haven't cracked open the third bottle yet, but these two alone have told me enough.

I would give the second bottle a 3.75, but I feel I've got to knock some points off for the inconsistent taste. The second bottle definitely tasted like the beer they were trying to make, but that first bottle was also something that they brewed and shipped, even if it wasn't what they were aiming for. I can see why some people are calling this watery, because if they got a bum batch, they're missing out on a decent witbier. If Long Trail could get better quality control, it would be worth buying again, but I wouldn't chance it as it stands now.

The orange citrus notes are more pronounced than usual for the style, similar to Harpoon's UFO White. Almost a shandy. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a nice alternative for daytime warm weather refreshment.

A: Pours a cloudy yellow color with a fingers worth of head that quickly fades down to nothing

S: A little bit yeasty with some light fruity and malty notes. Very light banana comes out

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with some very light yeasty and fruity notes with a light maltiness. Some banana and clove/spices. Very light overall, and a little watery

M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Again, a little on the watery side

O: More of an introductory wit with some lighter tastes and mouthfeel. A nice easy drinker, but not something you want if you want even moderate taste
