LONG TRAIL CHATEAUGUAY HAZE IPA 1/20/18
A "brewery only" product, a gift from my daughter's boyfriend after they visited the brewery in Vermont two days ago. The can describes it as a "Vermont IPA," the Chateauguay reference perhaps to the haze generated by a Canadian river.
Canned 1/12/18. A week old.
a; Cloudy orange with an inch thick white head which receded rather quickly to thin patchy surface foam and a little spotty lacing.
s; Strong pine resin.
t; Follows the nose with strength and considerable bitterness which builds in the otherwise dry finish, when grapefruit notes also make an appearance.
m; Meaty medium to full with great body and some carbonation tingle.
o; Self-served this first one a little too warm, but it is clearly a quality effort with a lot of flavor and substance while still on the upper edge of sessionable at 6% ABV. A bit more in your face bitter than I remember their Limbo being, but a colder serving might prove to be more moderate.
UPDATE 1/22: Had a second served colder than the first and it was great to the end. I hope LT cans more of this and sends it through their distribution network, because it's definitely a top notch hazy IPA'
