This brew is a culmination of our ramblings to date: hazy like our memories, juicy like our past, and as consistent as our presence over the past 30 years. This Survival Pack exclusive is dry-hopped with Calista, Southern Cross and Calypso hops to provide a fresh tropical fruit profile with a light, crackery malt profile from flaked oats, pilsner and 2-Row in the mash.

We made this crisp, clean IPA in honor of those who've poured pints, crushed cans and made memories with us since 1989.

A: cloudy; medium gold in color; 1+ finger finely pored off white head that receded to a wispy cap; little lacing;

S: not especially aromatic; what's there is vanilla, floral, and pineapple;

T: muted flavor as well; follows the nose from start to finish; mild bitterness at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: OK, but not memorable in any way;

Pours an opaque honey/peach juice color, with a substantial creamy /foamy head. Smell is reminiscent of citrus,(lemon) to be exact, some dank earth, fresh hops, Taste is citrus forward with an almost orangeade flavor,nice hop bite, seems to have a lower malt profile. You sort of get a hop zing then almost enough sweetness to counter balance, not quite. Feels medium bodied,ample carbonation, finishes juicy. Over all a solid American IPA. Would have again. The oats give it a certin creaminess.

I was over at the Friendly Greek Bottle Shop yesterday for the seCANd time in three days after a hiatus while working through the backlog here at Chez Woody. I had taken up my usual position opposite the Mix-'n'-Match a Six cooler doors when one of the employees asks me to perhaps help a customer. 8=O It was a fellow Navy vet, buying beer for his Navy son, home on leave & I was in a chambray shirt & peacoat, having just come from seeing "Midway"! How could I refuse? In scouring the cooler, I came across the LAST bottle of this one & immediately snagged it for myself. Hey, his son got some killer beer in that sixer! Later, I also assisted an overwhelmed overwhelming (ahem!) blonde who almost gave up to just buy a six of something, anything. I got her steered in the right direction & she made like a cat, rubbing up against me the entire time! 8=) I gotta go back more often, apparently. Nah, too easy to have FOMO & try to buy everything when I am trying to dig out from under.

From the Bottle (gasp!): "This brew is a culmination of our ramblings to date: hazy like our memories, juicy like our past, and as consistent as our presence over the past 30 years. We made this crisp, clean IPA in honor of those who've poured pints, crushed cans and made memories with us since 1989."

That last is slightly abbreviated as it appears on the neck label, but the full verbiage has been sent for an Edit in Notes.

I was very excited to Pop! the cap on this one since I have been drinking Long Trail beers for most of those thirty (30) years. It was VERY cloudy even before I started, so I felt like it was a no-holds-barred event, resulting in a heavy-handed aggro pour into the awaiting glass. I was rewarded with the formation of two-plus fingers of foamy, soapy, rocky, bone-white head with decent retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was very tropical fruity, but offset by a crackery maltiness. Mmm. I am kind of off of tropical fruit AIPAs, but this was less sweet-smelling than most. Mouthfeel was medium. This had the kind of taste that I wish that others had brought - tropical fruity, yes, but with a dry maltiness that was offsetting in its biscuitiness. I never disliked actual tropical fruits, but the esters created by Southern Hemisphere hops created a sweetness that quickly grew old for me. Leave it to an old friend to figure out how to make things right! I did not even mind the haze as a result. ;=) Finish was semi-dry, but MUCH more in keeping with the style. What a find! They must have broken up a sampler pack at some point & I was the lucky winner of the last one. YMMV.

A: Pours a hazy orange-yellow color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap

S: Lots of citrus, floral, and grassy hops up front along with some very light pine

T: Starts off with the grassy and floral hops and then picks up a moderate bitterness along with light citrus and pine. Finishes with lingering floral and piney hops

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A solid NE IPA that is easy to drink. Nothing too stand-offish but makes for a good 30th anniversary one-off

From the 12 oz. bottle that was packaged 09/17/19. Sampled Oct. 18, 2019.

It looks like a NEIPA with its murky, muddy, hazyt looking yellow color and modest white head. Opaque.

Nice bright tropical fruit and citrus aromas including pineapple, passion fruit, and guava. Below that there is a cereal malt character.

Medium body and fairly smooth.

The taste is sweet with tropical fruit and citrus notes but a only a moderate bitterness. The fruitiness is more in front.
