Our Brown Bag Milk Stout is jet black in appearance and has a prominent aroma of roasted barley and coffee, with some chocolate secondary notes. A thick, creamy and long-lasting head is characteristic. The flavor is sweet, with a mild roasted character lasting through the finish, accompanied by a balancing smooth creaminess. The overall impression is a very dark, sweet, creamy ale. A treat for the aficionado of classic styles, this product will have very limited distribution.

Poured from growler into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color, nearly black, with a one finger of cream colored head. The head fades over a moderate level of time leaving a nice level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a sweet milk chocolate with hints of roasted malt and coffee aromas. Some lighter notes of smoke and a bit of vanilla are there as well, overall giving a sweet and dessert like aroma.
Taste – The taste begins less sweet then the nose would have suggested. It begins with a roasted malt and coffee flavor with just some lighter hints of caramel and vanilla. While caramel and vanilla are there, it is still rather light in sweetness, but ends up getting more rich as the taste moves on. This is largely due to a milk chocolate flavor as well as a decent sugary lactose taste which develops after the initial taste. The vanilla gets stronger with a hint of an oak flavor coming to the tongue at the end of the taste, leaving a sweeter roasted and milk chocolate flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer in on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. A thicker body and lower carbonation would have been much more appropriate for the style and would have accentuated the nice milk chocolate and roasted flavors of the brew much better.
Overall - A decent and rather easy drinking milk stout with a nice milk chocolate and lactose presence. While the mouthfeel was a bit off, overall the brew was pretty nice and is well worth a try.
