OCB beer week special, on tap at Bryden's. Yellow with a small retained white head. Pepper aroma. The base saison does not go with this pepper, it rather competes. A lager would have been better. Yeast sweetness is brought out by the pepper. Medium mouthfeel. So-so drinkability.

On tap at Volo. Saison brewed with Szechuan pepper.
Beer is opaque gold with a smallish white head.
Smell contains pepper, chili powder, yeast and ginger. Chili is faint but present.
Taste follows the smell: spice, chili, pepper, ginger, light fruit (white peach, I think). Dry. The Szechuan peppercorns are present but restrained. I do not think I would have picked them out if I had not been looking for them. Does add a nice touch.
Light bodied, moderate carbonation, active feel.
Overall, pretty good. Not as crazy as the description makes it sound. Enjoyable for sure.
