On tap at the brewpub. Light aroma of sweet malt and faint hop resin. Pours a chill haze golden orange, with a slick rim of off-white. Flavor is the typical generic malt of the KBC, with hints of sea salt, oat grain and toothy breads. Then a kick in the teeth from great Columbus character. A bold brash of resin glad hop petals and floral risings. Fresh tastings and sweet in the sinuses. A great pairing to the middle of the road hop character and gentle oaky brush of an ESB. Delectably drinkable, with a refreshing crisp end. ItÂ’s interesting to see the hops play so forward in one of their beers, and using Columbus mostly in a flavoring role, as opposed to the typical bittering stance. Yet, surprisingly restrained in the smack. Something revealing.
