Originally reviewed July 27 2007. On nitro-tap at the brewpub. Aroma is a weak waft of creamed raspberries and plant skins. A bit sourish, in the stout way. Pours a paler shade of dark, with a nitro cream head in oatmeal. Flavor begins with a distinct note of pan seared natural casing beef frank skin. This marries with an Indonesian raspberry candy and the loveliest mild stout background. The palate for this beer need not be covered over with raspberries and wieners. Theres a psychotically drinkable stout in the background. More perfectly quaffable than any dry stout Ive experienced and right on par with many dark milds. Fortunately the fruit character fade and the hot dogs go to the back of the room with some chalk and Im left practically guzzling this most refreshing of beers. Clear the way berries, stout coming through. Very nice roast malt tannins, gentle coffee touches and an edge of sherry. Finishes without hop detection and on a longing edge of cranberry pulp.
