Discover the beers of the Sisters of Maredret Abbey, a range brewed with spelt and plants, inspired by Saint Hildegard of Bingen. Spelt provides floral, nutty and slightly bitter notes and supports the strong, spiced flavour of the Triplus while providing a subtle acidity. The use of plants in Triplus, including coriander and sage, gives it a unique taste.
Maredret Triplus has a pleasant spring fragrance with citrus notes and a slightly woody finish. Triplus is also characterised by strong aromas of spices, from sage to galangal and laurel.

Bought while staying at Martins Dream Hotel in Mons, so sort of close to the source... or at least supplied by the source.
This is an excellent tripel if you like the occasional soft one... and I do. Because tripels and their yeast can be aggressive on the mouth with a variety of spices. But not Triplus, it keeps all those wild spices playing nice.
A very active foam Looks particularly appetising in this Maredret goblet. Smells offer a great variety of spices beyond hops and grains beyond barley. All comes together well and is consistent from the attack to the finish. Full-mouthed and soft.
I'm having this again. And I probably can even have it with dinner which only a few tripels do well.
As for my Overall Hugs, they are high because John Martin seems to have taken the U.K. hospitality model and applied it to Belgium to sort of give a larger business structure to what is the greatest brewing nation IMHO. If Martin's next beer puts me in a good mood, I may even improve on my micro-review for Martin's from a few years ago.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8%. Slightly hazy pale golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of Belgian ale yeast, white kandij sugar syrup and canned yellow fruits. Fizzy mouthfeel. The medium sweet flavour has the same elements as the aroma, also some spicy notes from the yeast and herbal hops, and the added coriander, sage and bay laurel leaves.
