Thanks to jacwattsrugger for bringing this back from a recent trip through Virginia!
Pours hazed light brown with a ruby tint. Pretty translucent for a dark-bodied brew, though. A thin head leaves no lacing.
The smell is of bourbon - not strong, but there. Caramel and a tart fruitiness mix in.
The taste of tart fruit and some caramel override the bourbon. Where did the bourbon go? Only hints remain - a touch comes through in the finish.
"Plop-plop, fizz-fizz". Still heard, literally, heard, the fizz half-way through. Over-carbonated. The carbonation thins it, cutting through the flavour (which wasn't thrilling anyway).
The tart/sour character and lack of depth, body and bourbon is really ridiculous. Might be a bottling issue, might just be an "off" beer.
