12 fl. oz bottle
Served in a tulip glass
L - It is a nice copper color with amber highlights. Tiny specks of yeast are suspended throughout the beer. It is capped with three inches of tan head.
S - The rye comes through nicely. The citrus matches the intensity in smell. I get a rye bread aroma in there, too.
T - The taste focuses more on the hops. It starts out with some citrus. Then the rye comes through in the middle and is quickly overwhelmed by an assertive bitterness that lingers.
M - Medium
O - It is more bitter for just bitters sake than I would like. It starts out good with citrus and rye, but that finish leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Appearance: half way between an amber and caramel color. a half finger plus of a whitish head with good retention and leaving behind a small lacing. strong clarity and brightness to it.
Smell: spicy rye bread. citrus, caramel malt sweetness.
Taste: opens up with a big spicy bite of rye bread. some caramel malty sweetness comes through. all is balanced by a nice citrusy bitter kick near the end. slight astringent bite near the end too.
Mouthfeel: thick and a little syrupy for the size. bitter and spicy. slight dryness.
Overall: another great hoppy/light beer from Short's. The balance on this one is perfect.

Bottled 10/17 and poured 12/6. After having the (in my opinion) ridiculously good Juicy Tree by Short's a few days ago, I figured I'd have another one from Short's.
Appearance: First off, the label... Short's said this is an experimental "one off" beer, but I think it'll be back in some fashion. The label's colors with the alien on it is one of the most awesome looking labels I've seen. Hard pour didn't give too much of a head -- maybe a finger. After a minute or so, it dies down to a thin layer of foam. The color is really rusty -- almost the color of a beer bottle, and super hazy as well.
Smell: Definitely smells like a RyePA, but without a massive amount of rye that I get in a lot in the style. This has an obvious amount, but it sure lets the hops come through. Dank is right... smells very, very green. Fresh cut grass, pine, hop oil, and just a little bit of tropical fruits in there as well.
Taste/feel: Hits the tongue for a half second a bit flat all around, then it quickly opens up with a pop of carbonation. All of the dank aromas come through in the taste with a constant moderate rye character in the background, plus a very slight grapefruit rind kind of flavor and bitterness. This beer finishes a little "wet", but it just seems to dry up alongside its lingering bitterness. I really like the carbonation on this one, as it's moderately high and really wakes up your taste buds for the onslaught of hops. I do find that the body is a little watery though, and that is really Quasar Dank's only flaw. This beer is fantastic ice cold out of the fridge, and only gets better as it slowly warms up.
