Pours golden. Foamy, medium, white head that fades fast.

Smells orange, yeast, spice, wheat and light earthy.

Tastes fruity, yeasty, spice, orange peel and light pepper. Finish is dry with yeasty and citrus linger. Medium body and creamy medium carbonation.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a light golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of oranges, spices. Taste is oranges, wheat, light spices, highly refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall would be great to drink on a hot summer day.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy dark yellow with a medium frothy white head that retains well and leaves little lacing.

The aroma is bready malt with some banana and a little spice and some earthy yeast.

The flavor is sweet fruity malt with some earthy funk and a bit of platicky bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with spritzy carbonation.

Overall, OK fruity wit.

Short's Brewing Co. "Blanco Suave"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, packaged on 07/14/16
$2 @ Wegmans, King Of Prussia, PA

I have to at least give it to Short's for their funny names and interesting labels, but this one may have gone too far. Let me check my iTunes list just to make sure I don't have any Rico Suave - OMG! I do! But I didn't buy it, I swear! And I thought Rico was the guy, but it turns out his name is Gerardo... "delete"... "move to trash".

Moving forward, you can't get any worse than that song, right? What was wrong with the '90's?

Appearance: Slightly hazy yellow gold body beneath a bright white head. Decent head retention and limited spotty and streaky lacing.

Aroma: Chalky Belgian yeast, coriander, clove, tropical fruit, citrus. It's no bolder than it should be, but you won't miss it. Interesting. Varied. As you work through it you find more. Very nice complexity.

Taste: As with the aroma, the further you get into it the more you find. I got mango, melon, banana, lime, dried apricot, peach, tangerine, and papaya as well as wheat and coriander, clove, and black pepper. There's a sweetness to it that I was unclear on until I read the label, realizing then that it's from the agave. Nicely balanced with a little bit of sweetness, some spiciness, a touch of tartness, and some dry chalkiness. To me this is one of those odd beers where you can either just drink it, or you can savor it, and it works equally well either way (as opposed to, say, just drinking down a pint of English old ale).

Mouthfeel: Light-medium in body and gently crisp with a standard carbonation.

Overall: Of all the "tropical" beers I've ever tasted this one might be the most tropical, and probably my favorite. The balance of the beer, it's roundness (meaning there are components that work together but are also individually found and spread out in some kind of balance), and complexity are remarkable. Add to that a thirst-quenching drinkability and you've got something special! It might even be too much tropical for some, but it works for me, and it still retains the identity of a "witbier". Absolutely worth trying!

I picked up a bottle of Shorts Blanco Suave in their new summer mixed pack. I'm always down to try a new beer from Shorts, so lets see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Weizen glass.

A= The label looks nice, it goes well with the name and it's eye catching. It poured a hazy golden color that took on more of a pale yellow color when held to the light with a fingers worth of creamy off white head that quickly died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and it left some spotty lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking beer, but I wish it had a little better head retention.

S- The aroma starts off with higher amount of medium sweetness with a big fruity aroma being the first to show up and it imparts nice citrus rind aroma with a little bit of tangerine peel being noticeable and it really pops with that fruity aroma. Up next come some doughy and spice aromas with the grains of paradise sticking out a little. Towards the end comes the malts which impart a grainy, bready, biscuit and sweet malt like aroma. This beer has a good aroma, it's pretty true to style and extra fruity aromas work well with it.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts with a pretty high amount of medium sweetness with that same fruity aspect being the first to show up and it imparts that same mix of citrus fruits and it works well with this beer. Up next comes the spices which show up a little more than they did in the aroma with that same doughy aspect. Towards the end comes the malts which impart all those same bready and grainy aspects that they did in the aroma with the sweet malts sticking out just a little more. Towards the end comes a pretty light amount of bitterness along with some more sweetness and it had a fruity, spicy and grainy aftertaste. This is a pretty nice beer, the extra fruity flavors work well with it.

M- Smooth, crisp, a little refreshing, medium bodied with a slightly higher amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is good and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a pretty nice beer and a nice example of the style, it had all the aspects that I was looking for and the extra ingredients showed up enough to make it a little unique. This beer had nice drinkability, I could drink a couple, but that would be my limit. What I like the most about this beer is the aroma and the mouthfeel, they are both good and work well with this beer and I like the extra fruitiness. What I like the least about this beer is nothing, it's fine just the way it is, and they isn't anything that stuck out as being my least favorite aspect. I would buy this beer again when in the mood for the style and I would recommend it to someone who wants a beer that's a little bolder version of the style. All in all I liked this beer and I thought it was another solid wheat beer from shorts. It's not my favorite Shorts beer, but it is above average for the style. Nice job guys, this is a solid wheat beer, keep it up.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/14/2016. Pours lightly hazy golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of lemon, lime, pear, apple, coriander, orange peel, pepper, clove, light banana, wheat, cracker, agave, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, lime, pear, apple, coriander, orange peel, pepper, clove, light banana, wheat, cracker, agave, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness/yeast spiciness with slight fruit tartness/wheat tang on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, pear, apple, coriander, orange peel, pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, agave, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol as expected of 6.6%. Overall this is a very nice witbier. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and quite refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours a hazy/near-clear straw color. A finger of fizzy head is produced. Active carbonation quickly slows to lazy streams of bubbles and the head is gone. No lacing. Aroma is typical Belgian Wit. Banana and clove come to to front, a little floral and sour, a little metallic. Taste is lively, banana and clove, some agave sweetness that coats the tongue. The kick comes in the finish, when the tart lime provides a pucker and the grains of paradise give it a pepper kick. Makes me wish I had a Wit Happens to pair with.

Part of Short's July/August Variety Pack.

This beer's pretty solid. It smells like a typical Witbier, and really just tastes like one until the finish, where the lime (and its tartness) and grains of paradise come through. The beer also labels agave and tangerine peel, but they get muddled out by all the lime. Coriander is also on the label, but I feel like that's just a typical sort of flavor in a Wit that just accentuates that banana sort of flavor.

If it weren't for the finish, I'd knock this beer a bit more, as there's nothing special about it otherwise. The lime kick with the peppery grains of paradise makes this stand out a bit over a typical wit.
