Bottled 10/28/16; drank 12/3/16 @ the Yarchives.
Semi-opaque red/brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice khaki head; strong, frothy lace.
Cane sugar, black cherry & faint brown sugar notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Cane sugar, black cherry & faint plum flavors up front; faint brown sugar notes on the finish.
Pretty sweet overall, but damn if this wasn't delicious; I'm not a big Short's guy but this is good enough to make me a believer...

12 oz brown bottle - not dated
Shorts The Double Magician has a deep mahogany hue with a small off-white head that was almost non-existent and no lacing was produced. The nose has the aroma of dark malt, toffee, and a little roasty. The taste of toffee, raisin, dark fruit seem to dominate. There also is a light hop bitterness at the finish. The Ale is medium bodied with medium carbonation.
Overall, Double Magician is a little above average for an Irish Red Ale - worth a try if you like the style though.

Look: Hazy brown with a very thin white head that quickly dissipates.
Smell: Toasty brown bread with a bit of alcohol kick.
Taste: That malty brown bread with a bitter note.
Mouthfeel: Slightly above average thickness with minimal carbonation.
Overall: I could definitely use some more complexity on this.

Slightly hazy, chestnut mare colored with a hard to coax toasted marshmallow head make a quick appearance retreating and leaving a thin cap and scant lacing.
Faint herbal aroma.
No sweetness to speak of despite its warm hues. While cold the herbal component continues and for a short time until the bitter, dry finish pushes its way through. But as the beer warms (possibly to a more traditional serving temperature) the flavor swells and the finish is less pronounced.
Medium fullness with a bit of spark from the carbonation.
A good example of the with some strength to make it a bit hardier.
