Pours a solid dark brown, the smell is very enticing with strong coffee notes and a sweet chocolate note. The main problem with this porter to me is an utter lack of hops, it is overpowered by sweetness. Not a bad beer, but not something I would buy again.

Pours dark brown. Thick, short, tan head that is short lived.
Smells roasted malt, coffee, light char, chocolate hints and light earthiness.
Tastes chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, light brown sugar and dark fruit. Finish is Semi dry with a roasty and char linger. Medium body and creamy lower carbonation.

Pours a pretty nice dark brown color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger tan head, which leaves a small island, and some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with some nice chocolate/toffee, roasty, some vanilla. The taste is pretty nice, malty, nice chocolate/toffee, nice roastyness, vanilla. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty nice. Overall, a nice brew.

Pretty spot-on porter. Poured from bottle to tulip. Nice, dark brown/black color with a finger and a half of mocha head. Nice roast aromas of dark cocoa, coffee, dark bread, malt, subtle floral hop notes. Flavors of char, dark cocoa powder, coffee grounds, fig , plum, with a clean and dry finish. While released as part of a variety pack, could probably stand on its own.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coffee, nuttiness, smoke, char, dark fruits, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of nuttiness, smoke, char, dark fruits, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark/brown bread, nuttiness, smoke, char, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a very nice American porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Very well rounded in malt complexity and hop balance; never too roasty or bitter. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

L: Pours a dark brown black color with a few hints of mahogany where the light hits it and near the edge. A small amount of khaki tan head that dissipates rather quickly.
S: Notes of roasted malt, smoked meat, a little bit of ash, and notes of chocolate.
T: Notes of dark roasted malt, some earthy malt with some smoked meat, a little bit of ash, with some notes of chocolate. It could use a little more hop to balance it out. Some milky sweetness in the background.
F: Medium body and a fairly creamy.
O: This is a fairly average porter, nothing special but nothing bad.

I picked up a bottle of Short's Cozy Blanket in their newest variety pack. It's been a little while since I've tried a new Porter and I'm interested to see how this one turns out, so lets see how it goes. 2017 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a imperial pint glass.
A- The label looks good, the design goes well with the name and it's eye catching. It poured a dark black color that didn't change when held to the light and it had a fingers worth of darker tan head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and it left rings of patchy lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking Porter< i have no complaints.
S- The aroma starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the malts being the first to show up and they impart some nice chocolate, light coffee, roasted malt, dark malt and sweet malt aromas that are followed by a fruity aromas which imparts a pretty noticeable dark cherry like aroma that is pretty noticeable. Towards the end there's an earthy aroma. This beer has a nice aroma, it's a little unique for the style with the dark cherry aspects.
T- The taste seems to be a little similar to the aroma and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the malts being the first to show up and they impart all the same aspects that they did in the aroma, with the coffee showing up a little more this time. Up next there's no real cherry aspects this time and it goes into a little bit of doughy yeast and nutty flavor. Towards the end there's a little bit of a watery coffee flavor coming through and on the finish there's slightly lower amount of medium bitterness with a coffee, light chocolate, roasted malt and nutty aftertaste. This is a nice tasting beer, but the finish was a little on the watery side.
M- A little smooth, pretty crisp, dry on the finish, medium bodied with a higher amount of medium sweetness. The mouthfeel is nice, but i wish it was a little less carbonated.
Overall I thought this was a nice beer and it's a pretty solid example of a Porter, it had most of the aspects that I look for the style and I thought it was pretty weird how the fruity aspects from the aroma never carried over to the taste. This beer had ok drinkability, one is enough for me, any more than that and it would start to ware on me. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance and aroma, to me they were the highlights of this beer. What I like the least about this beer is the finish and the higher carbonation, those two aspects could use the most work. I don't think I would buy this beer on it's own, but I wouldn't turn one down and I would only recommend it if your looking for a Porter that's a little on the lighter side. All in all I liked this beer, but I didn't love it and I think a little more work on the finish could help this beer a good amount. It's not a favorite Short's beer and it's just a little above average for the style. Solid job guys, but I know this one has the potential to be better.
