Terr Bear is a barrel aged Sour Wheat Ale fermented with Northern Michigan raspberries. Pink with a pink tinted head, this Sour Wheat Ale smells of fresh, bright raspberry with hints of oak and a slight barnyard funk. A burst of raspberry flavor is followed oak and funk. With an ample amount of carbonation Terr Bear is dry, refreshing, and very drinkable.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 3/2017. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge sour/tart/tangy red raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of leathery/musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of raspberries, fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast; moderate oak and pale/wheat malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge sour/tart/tangy red raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of leathery/musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour red raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light leather/musty funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of raspberries, fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast; moderate oak and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a fantastic malt/tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with zero puckering flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingerng tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 6.1%. Overall this is fantastic fruited sour/wild ale! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of raspberries, fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast; moderate oak and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/drying finish; not overly lactic. Amazing balance of juicy/jammy raspberries and Brett/Bacteria complexity; with nice oak presence, and pale/wheat malts against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp acidic/tangy dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and top tier quality style example. Not overwhelming on any aspect.
