Not Unofficial is a dry-hopped India Pale Ale brewed with mango and guava in collaboration with Lagunitas Brewing Company. Golden in color and slightly hazy, this beer has huge aromas of juicy tropical fruit. Medium bodied this beer leads with flavors of mango and guava before finishing with dank hoppiness.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/10/2019. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lightly tart/tangy mangoes, melon, pink guava, fruit skin, red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, light peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, mango, guava, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart/tangy mangoes, melon, pink guava, fruit skin, red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, light peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and light fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy mangoes, melon, pink guava, fruit skin, red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, mango, guava, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness, and tart/tangy fruit balance; with no astringent hop/fruit flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and tart/tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 7.1%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited IPA! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, mango, guava, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/clean/refreshing to drink, with the mellowly bitter/tart/drying finish, not aggressive. Feels like mostly Galaxy, Simcoe hops; complements the fruit perfectly. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops/fruit; with a nice clean pale/wheat malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness from crisp dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding West coast style example. Perfectly balanced between hops and fruit.

I don’t normally like mango in my beers but this one does a very nice job. Very interesting collaboration between Short’s and Lagunitas. Pours a nice, slightly hazy golden color, with a little mild fluffy white head and some spotty lingering lacing. Smells of mango, guava, passionfruit, orange, pineapple and some malt. There is also some faint piney hops in the background. Taste follows the nose, along with some vanilla, caramel and biscuit. Smooth, clean, crisp mouthfeel, with good carbonation. Very enjoyable IPA, with just the right amount of bitterness and dankness at the finish. Well done!

Golden with a bit of haze, although not intentionally cloudy, which Is good. Vegetital in the nose. It has a smashed fruit rind aroma. It’s not exactly pleasant to me, but it’s distinctive,so some may like it.

I like the muted fruit flavor in the front, but it tastes like a menthol cough drop to me. Super dry finish, nice bite. Love these breweries and this style, but this one doesn’t work for me.

Love brewery collaborations, and this is definitely better than the other collaborations of the these two breweries. Beer pours light, thin head, and BRIGHT aroma. Emphasis on bright, tropical fruits, with a very citrus and pineapple aroma. Taste is great. The mango/guava gives a beautiful front to this IPA. Being roughly 7%abv, the body is rather light giving an almost session style of beer. Very drinkable, refreshing, and fruity. I would definitely drink again.
